You’ve probably heard phrases like “live your truth” or “follow your heart.” But what do those mean? And more importantly, how does it feel when you’re aligned with your soul’s true purpose?
Most of us start with a plan—an idea of how life should look. But have you ever found yourself chasing a goal that, deep down, just doesn’t feel right? You keep pushing forward, but it feels like walking through quicksand. Obstacles keep piling up, and this quiet inner whisper—or sometimes a loud, undeniable knowing—tells you, “This isn’t it.”
This often happens when we try to live according to others’ expectations rather than our own. We chase societal definitions of success, curate an image to fit in, and in doing so, lose touch with what feels authentic and fulfilling to us.
Over time, I’ve learned to recognize the unmistakable signs that I’m out of alignment with my soul’s path.
Here’s how it shows up for me:
- Everything feels hard. When living in flow and alignment, even the hard work feels purposeful, and obstacles are manageable. But when I’m off, it feels like a struggle after struggle with no relief.
- My external world starts to unravel. Flat tires, random injuries, missed opportunities—things seem to fall apart. I’ve seen these moments as the universe trying to get my attention, signaling that I’m not listening to my inner guidance. Looking back, this was glaringly obvious during my marriage. Injury after injury, hardship after hardship—all while I ignored the deep unhappiness and avoided making the changes I desperately needed.
Alignment doesn’t always mean an easy life, but it does mean a life that feels right—one where even the challenges lead to growth, not exhaustion.
And here’s how I know when I am aligned with my soul’s purpose:
- Synchronicities become undeniable, people, opportunities, and experiences show up exactly when I need them.
- Even the mundane feels meaningful. There’s a quiet joy in everyday moments, a sense of presence that wasn’t there before.
- Life feels lighter. Not because it’s free of challenges, but because I trust the path I’m walking.
That’s the difference between living from expectation and living from alignment. One feels like constant resistance. The other feels like breathing freely for the first time in years.
A Gentle Invitation to Reflect:
- Where in your life does everything feel hard right now?
- Are there whispers you’ve been ignoring?
- And most importantly, what would it look like to trust your own inner knowing, even if it means letting go of the plan you thought you should follow?
Your soul already knows the way. The question is, are you ready to listen?
